Agency mission

To develop and manage the provision of housing assistance to the Aboriginal community in a manner that delivers accessible, affordable, appropriate and secure housing that meets the social, cultural and economic aspirations of the Victorian Aboriginal community.

Agency history

Aboriginal Housing Victoria (AHV) was the first Aboriginal housing agency to be registered as a housing provider in Victoria. It is also the largest Aboriginal Housing agency in Victoria. As at 30 June 2013, it has a portfolio of over 1,521 properties, including 69 properties owned, under its direct tenancy management. Tenants are assured of access to an Aboriginal landlord and a personalised and culturally sensitive service for Aboriginal people.
